Dog breeder Yahka Newfoundlands Cotons
Our Newfoundland Dogs -  Mac , Harley 8/26/01 - 9/30/08, and Norman
Dog breeder Yahka Newfoundlands. Our CotonsMac joined our family when he was two and one half years old.  We let Mac adjust to his new surroundings and one month later we had him neutered.  Mac will be ten years old the first part of December, 2008.  He is in his senior years now and he has slowed down quite a bit.  He spends a lot of time sleeping and he enjoys going for short walks.

Harley came to us from a reputable breeder in Ontario, Canada (Yahka Newfoundlands) when he was ten weeks old.  He was a neutered male who was a wonderful companion to us, especially Rick.  Harley was seven years old when he died.

Harley had surgery in 2007 to have two growths removed that looked suspicious on his back.  One growth was a spindle cell tumor that was cancerous.  Our veterinarian got clear margins around the tumor so we were thankful for that.

Harley was diagnosed with Lymphoma the end of August, 2008, right after his seventh birthday. Our veterinarian came to our home and helped Harley leave this world on September 30, 2008. Rick and Harley looked into each others eyes with deep love for one another as Harley closed is eyes for the last time and left us. Harley was loved very much by our family and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Robin placed Norman with us on October 4, 2008 with a neuter contract.  We are in love and so happy to have this little boy in our family.  He is adorable and he has a wonderful temperament.  We thought after Harley died that we would not have big dogs anymore but there has been such a sense of loss since Harley's death that the best therapy for us has been to add another Newfie to our family as a pet/companion dog.  Robin just happened to have one male puppy available so the timing was just right for Norman to join us.

Special thanks to Robin for placing Norman with us.  We extend our gratitude to our family and friends who supported us through our grief of saying goodbye to Harley.  We know that Norman will not replace Harley.  We know we won't just "get over" the loss of Harley.  Nothing replaces the ones we lose.  We are making a change that will help us move forward in life.  We love the Newfoundland breed as a "whole" and we have room in our hearts to love another Newfie.
